My dearest friends and family,
I've got a couple of REALLY cool announcements for you all today...
First of all, I'm SO pleased and proud to announce that I've produced a track for the great Nick Heyward for the upcoming tribute LP Beyond Belief: A Tribute to Elvis Costello. Hot off the heels of our show together in January at Jones Coffee in Pasadena, we recorded a rootsy / Beatlesque version of Elvis' classic "ALMOST BLUE", featuring Stephen Smith on bass and a killer guitar solo from Steven Wilson of Plasticsoul. Nick's vocal is truly sublime and I sincerely can't wait for you all to hear this when the tribute drops later this spring...this is the same compilation I also contributed a solo version of the song RIOT ACT, with frequent collaborators Vanessa & Jason Wormer & Sarah Scarlata. stay tuned for more info!
Speaking of Jones Coffee - for many years in the mid-aughts, I held court at (the now sadly shuttered) Karma Coffeehouse in downtown Hollywood. It was a playground of sorts for my musical family and I, a carnival of sounds every Friday night as various peers and I threw caution to the wind and walked the high wire of spontaneous collaboration and creative abandon. It was a home away from home, a creative and spiritual center. It is the spirit of those days at Karma that leads my great pleasure to announce that I'm bringing that energy back in a new residency at Jones Coffee in Pasadena, CA. More details to come, but this will launch very very soon and I hope to share some much appreciated time and music with you here before too long. Stay tuned...
